Raquel Miller:
I’m Raquel Miller, The Pretty Beast. I’m 10 and 0 as a professional fighter. I’m the WBA interim world champion, soon to be world champion, here, live and direct, at The Arena. When I got into boxing, I was 25, and I really just wanted to prove to myself that I could fight. And I wanted to do it in an organized setting. So I said, “What better way than to box?” And I wanted to lose weight, and I lost 50 pounds. And I won fight of the night on my first fight, so it changed my life.

I chose Coach Basheer as my coach because he was the first coach that I worked with that was actually strategic in how we were going to win. He kind of took his military training and put it into boxing. He’s very structured. He’s very strategic with his training. And that resonated with me because I’m a thinker.

My heart is set on being a world champion, unifying and making history. My top three that I would love to fight right now will be Shields, Christina Hammer, and I would definitely like to fight Alicia Napoleon. Pretty much, you line them up, I’m ready to knock them down.

My legacy is going to be I inspired a generation to push for whatever they believe in and not allow someone else to put their ideal of what they should be doing on them. A lot of people think that I shouldn’t fight because I’m a woman, and my job is to show them that I can do anything I want to do and I can do it my way. And that’s why I’m the Pretty Beast.

Pretty Beast represents looking good, but beast in that, whatever you believe in, be it boxing… You’re an attorney. You could be a doctor. You can be whatever you want to be and be a beast at it and look good in the process.

I love The Arena because The Arena has a fight feel. It’s a difference between going to a fitness gym and then going to a fighters’ gym. Where there’s other fighters in the gym, you feed off that energy. And so everyone wants to win. Everyone wants to be their best. So the energy is to not be outworked. And you can only get that from a fighters’ gym, and The Arena supplies that, be it some MMA fighters, the boxers, Jiu Jitsu guys. Everyone’s in here grinding to be the best versions of themselves, and it’s the energy of “Let’s go.”
