Alfred Vargas is one of The Arena’s elite amateur boxers, and has been training since he was 8 years old. Hear what he has to say about his experience at The Arena and working with Boxing Coach Basheer Abdullah.

I started boxing when I was 8 1/2 years old. The reason why I came here to train at The Arena was because of the prestigious trainers and the training regiment. The facility here has even more than we need for training, the heavy bags, the double handbag, the two rings, everything. Everything’s here at The Arena. The vibe of the team is all motivation and training harder, preparing ourselves for future competition. Coach Joe and Coach Basheer have a high intellect in the boxing game, sweet science. They are very good trainers, and they know how to motivate the fighters and prepare us fully and adequately for our competition.
