Coach Joe Vargas:
We’re getting ready to fly out tomorrow to Barranquilla, Colombia, with Nigel right now. He’s going on his 14th fight. This fight’s very important. We’re coming off of a loss, so we’re trying to bounce back on a winning streak. We’re fighting a veteran in Colombia in his own backyard. This fight we worked a lot of strength and conditioning with coach Jason Salazar, and we worked a lot on quick hands and power shots, and we just stepped it up to another level.

Nigel Fennell:
Concerning my first loss, it’s very discouraging. I know I gave it my all in the ring, but unfortunately I came up short on the scorecards. That’s given me a lot of drive and a lot of motivation to come back 100% stronger physically and mentally. I worked on a lot of my mistakes, so I’m definitely looking forward to showing that I’m top caliber of a fighter on Saturday.
