Charlie Brown:

I’m Charlie Brown. I’m a Masters boxer. Been boxing in the Masters division for about eight or nine years. Recently retired from the Navy, had served for 28 years. Now, I have time to dedicate to boxing every day and excited to be working here at the arena. I’ve been working with Joe for more than 10 years. First in class, and then training for amateur fights in the Masters division. Every time I’ve fought with him in my corner, I’ve won. Joe is just an amazing trainer and amazing person, and really lucky to have the chance to work with him. So right now, working to get ready for a Masters tournament in Vegas at the end of February, so this is a great opportunity.

I did a tournament in New York last year. It’s kind of just to knock the rust off. And now, I’ve been working more consistently for more time, and I’m excited about showing out in Vegas. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to box, how much longer my body will let me compete. I’m 50 years old, which is old to be sparring with some of these really talented young men. So I’ve also started being an official for USA Boxing and hopefully, eventually, get a chance to do some refereeing. I’m just really grateful to have my health, to have amazing people here at the arena to get a chance to work with, and I’m just grateful for the opportunity.
