Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt and Active Duty Navy Member, Eric Hayes, discusses his experience training at The Arena. After beginning his training with us many years ago, he was relocated to Virginia for 7 years, and once he came back to San Diego he immediately jumped back into the gym to continue his Martial Arts journey.
Hey, I’m Eric Hayes. I’ve been training Jiu Jitsu for about eight years or so. I’m a brown belt under Barret Yoshida. Also like 17 years in the Navy. So came back to The Arena after having gone to Virginia Beach for six or seven years. I’ve been back for about two years now.
I enjoy Barret’s program because of the level of detail we can go into. And just kind of like his mastery of Jujitsu in general. He’s one of the best out there. The vibe’s great, The Arena’s awesome. People are all super friendly. The staff’s great. Everyone from Mike to Dave at the front desk. And everybody that trains here as well.
I guess what I get out of training at The Arena is, well it’s therapeutic for me, right? It’s a place where you can go and people are awesome. It’s kind of like an escape. You get to go reset. Hang out with some good people and do Jiu Jitsu.
