Numerous Podiums at San Diego Open

From May 8th to the 10th, a number of experienced Arena Athletes representing Baret Submissions competed at the San Diego Open at Harry West Gymnasium in San Diego. In total, The Arena had 13 athletes podium between both the Gi and No Gi categories.


Arena athletes representing Baret Submissions had a very strong outing in the Gi category with 8 total podium finishes:


-Marylyn Cruz took home a gold medal in the Adult Purple Belt Light-featherweight division. 

Chris Kruger won a gold medal in the Masters 4 Brown Belt Middleweight division. 

-Randy Santamaria also took home a gold medal in the Masters 2 Blue Belt Super-heavyweight division.

-Gerald Duenas won the Masters 3 Blue Belt Featherweight division and took home a gold medal. 

-Vince Kroff won a silver medal in the Masters 2 Purple Belt Featherweight division.

-Alan Beck took home a silver medal in the Masters 3 Brown Belt Ultra-heavyweight division. 

-Bryan Guerrero earned himself a bronze medal in the Adult Brown Belt Light-featherweight division. 

-Sidney Kleinmeyer won a bronze medal in the Adult Blue Belt Lightweight division. 


In the No Gi championship, The Arena and Baret Submissions athletes also saw a strong showing with 5 total podium finishes:


-Matthew Wilcox competed in the Adult No Gi Blue Belt Lightweight division, where he placed third and came home with a medal. 

-Yesenia Sosa competed in the Adult No Gi Blue Belt Lightweight division and received a bronze medal. 

-David Da Silva competed in the Adult No Gi Purple Belt Featherweight division, where he placed third and received a bronze medal. 

-Scott Finch took part in the Adult No Gi Black Belt Featherweight division, earning himself a bronze medal. 

-Alan Beck took part in the Masters 3 No Gi Brown Belt Ultra Heavyweight division, taking home a silver medal.
